UCLan (University of Central Lancashire) Student Union – Political and Campaigning Societies Rep -Manifesto

As a member of a local political party executive committee and multiple LGBTQ+ Campaigning groups, I understand the importance of political discourse and involvement at a young age. We as students possess so much power over our politics yet few of us choose to engage in it. My goal is to change that.

No matter your own political standpoint, your view hugely matters to ensure that we maintain a democratic process. That’s why as your Political and Campaigning Societies Rep, I would aim to encourage students to get involved and set up a range of political and campaigning activities. This may include societies based on political parties, important national points of interest, or something that touches you personally. Your standpoint should not be underestimated and the impact you can make on a university, local or national scale cannot be measured.

For already existing political and campaigning societies, I will aim to strengthen your connection to the union and encourage a healthy level of membership. I will make sure that your voices are heard and that everything is approached from a balanced and neutral perspective because, that is what is absolutely necessary for happy, healthy discourse.

Thank you for your time,

Avery Greatorex
