Wow, what an incredible year 2024 has been! Reflecting on the past year, I feel immense pride in my contributions and the remarkable individuals I've collaborated with. From my roles as Vice-Chair of Pride in Labour and Chair of UCLan Labour Society to the smaller, yet impactful victories, this year has truly been one for the books.

One of the standout achievements was the launch of the UCLan Trans Student Hub. Witnessing its evolution from a simple idea to a vibrant digital platform where trans students can access support and build community has been nothing short of amazing. Knowing that it aids students in navigating their university experience makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Another highlight was my involvement in the Lea & Larches By-Election. Engaging in local politics and connecting with the community provided me with fresh insights into the challenges they face, reinforcing the necessity for strong, progressive policies to address these issues.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we transition into 2025, I am more motivated than ever to maintain this momentum. There is so much more I aspire to achieve, both in my activism and personal growth. Here are a few key focuses for the upcoming year:

  1. Expanding the UCLan Trans Student Hub

While the hub has made significant strides, I am committed to enhancing its offerings. Whether through new resources, engaging events, or strategic partnerships, I aim to establish it as a lasting support system for trans students.

  2. Advocating for Policy Change

Within the Labour Party and beyond, I will continue to push for policies that genuinely uplift marginalized communities. Advocating for trans rights and gender equality remains at the forefront of my mission.

  3. Building Community Connections

This past year has taught me the importance of listening to people's stories and experiences. In 2025, I aim to deepen these connections and amplify the voices of everyday individuals in the political landscape.

  4. Raising Awareness

Through workshops, talks, and multimedia content, I will focus on education and awareness initiatives. Breaking down barriers, particularly around trans issues and social justice, is crucial, and I am excited to expand this work.

  5. Prioritizing Personal Growth

On a personal note, I am set to complete my psychology degree this year. I look forward to applying my knowledge to provide new perspectives on the challenges faced by the trans community.

2025 promises to be a year brimming with opportunities. There is much work ahead, but I am ready to embrace the challenges. Together, with passion and determination, I firmly believe we can make a significant impact.

Let’s make this a year to remember!
