Manifesto: NUS Main Conference Delegate Womens Position

Updated: Apr 20

I am Avery, your Trans* Rep here at UCLanSU.

You should vote for me to be one of your delegates for the National Union of Students Conference for the following reasons:

1.      Experience: I have firsthand experience attending major conferences, including the Annual Labour Conference in 2022. This experience demonstrates my ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, convey important messages, and stay informed about relevant issues.

2.      Leadership: I have successfully run two big ideas within our Union including the campaign for preferred names and the national ban on conversion therapy. This highlights my leadership skills and my commitment to advocating for underrepresented groups.

3.      Communication Skills: I have delivered speeches and effectively conveyed messages, demonstrating strong communication skills that are essential for representing our student body.

4.      Passion and Dedication: My involvement in student leadership and my success in implementing “big ideas” showcase my passion and dedication to making a positive impact in our student community.

5.      Diversity and Inclusion: As a representative for trans students, I bring a unique perspective and an understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion, which are critical aspects of the NUS’s mission.

My experience, leadership, communication skills, dedication, and perspective as a representative for trans students make me an excellent candidate to represent our student union at the National Union of Students Conference. I have a proven track record of advocating for our peers and the skills necessary to effectively participate in and contribute to important discussions.
